My Scrambled Tofu Seasoning (BEST Scrambled Tofu HACK You Never Knew You Needed!)

Whether you are vegan or not, I recommend you get on the scrambled tofu train! It’s a great place to be. Tofu is a fantastic source of plant-based protein (it’s definitely my favourite) and it’s so versatile and amazing. It is definitely a vegan staple that has been around for a long time but one of my least favourite things about making it is that I have to use so many spices to make some. But with this hack, my life became so much easier.

In today’s video, I made my famous make-ahead Scrambled Tofu Seasoning (woohoo!)! I’m going to officially call this the CLV Scrambled Tofu Seasoning — haha! This means you no longer have to dig deep into your spice cabinet to take out 10 million spices just to make some scrambled tofu. Thanks to this hack, you’ll only need to take out ONE jar and your life is now so much easier (you’re welcome!).

CLV Scrambled Tofu Seasoning

So, the first thing you’ll need is an empty jar to put your seasoning in. A small- to medium-sized jar would do, just make sure it has enough space to store all those spices in with some space at the top (I made two batches because the jar I used was large enough but it ended up being a little too much — watch the video for context!).

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1/2 cup nutritional yeast
  • 1/4 cup garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup onion powder
  • 2 tbsp cumin
  • 2 tbsp turmeric
  • 1 tbsp Paprika
  • 1 tbsp pepper
  • 1 tbsp salt

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Add all the spices into your jar. Feel free to double or triple the recipe if you want to make a larger batch!
  2. Shake the jar well until all spices are well-combined.
  3. Now your scrambled tofu seasoning is ready to use!

Simple Delicious Scrambled Tofu

INGREDIENTS (1 serving):

  • 1 tbsp vegan butter
  • 100g medium-firm tofu
  • 1 tbsp vegan mayo (optional)
  • 1/4 bell pepper, chopped into small pieces
  • 1 tbsp CLV Scrambled Tofu Seasoning (recipe above)
  • 1 large handful spinach
  • 1-2 green onions, chopped (optional garnish)

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Into a pan on medium-high heat, add vegan butter or vegetable oil and wait until it melts. 
  2. Crumbled up some tofu onto the pan. 
  3. Add in vegan mayo to the crumbled up tofu (not required but recommended for extra creaminess and yumminess).
  4. Add in the chopped bell pepper and mix well. Leave and let it cook for a few minutes until the water from the tofu has evaporated. 
  5. Now you can add in your scrambled tofu seasoning. (I find that 1 tbsp of seasoning works for 100g of tofu, but feel free to adjust according to your taste buds!)
  6. Add in the spinach and mix until it cooks. 
  7. Transfer onto a plate and top with green onions and ketchup (or whatever you’d like!)!
  8. Enjoy!

Vegan Breakfast Quesadilla

INGREDIENTS (1 serving):

  • 1 large tortilla
  • 1 serving Simple Delicious Scrambled Tofu (recipe above)
  • 1 tbsp vegan mayo (optional)
  • Vegan cheese (optional topping)
  • 2-3 tbsp salsa

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Heat a large pan and place a large tortilla on it. 
  2. Add in some scrambled tofu on half of the tortilla (like I did in the video). Let it sit for a little bit to allow the tortilla to toast. 
  3. Add in some vegan mayo on top or spread on the other half of the tortilla. You can also add hummus or vegan cheese (Use whatever you’d like!).
  4. Check if the tortilla has browned on the underside. If it has, fold it in half and transfer onto a plate. 
  5. Cut it up into half or thirds.
  6. Serve with a side of salsa. Enjoy!
